Podcast Studio Peterborough: Everything You Need to Know About Recording at Native Space

You’ve got the idea. You know what you want to say, who you want to say it to, and why it matters. The only question left is whether the studio you record in does justice to that.

The equipment you record on and the set you record in front of are visible to every person who watches your content. They shape how your audience perceives you before you’ve said a word. At Native Space, both are built to a specification that most studios — locally and nationally — simply don’t match. Your ideas deserve that.

The Equipment

We’ll start here because it’s where the difference is most concrete.

6K Video

Our studio runs three Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K cameras simultaneously — one per guest position, recording from different angles at the same time. 6K is the specification used in professional film and commercial production. Most podcast studios, including others in the Peterborough area, record in 4K.

The practical difference: 6K footage gives you significantly more latitude in post-production. You can reframe shots, crop in without quality loss, and colour grade with precision that 4K simply doesn’t allow. For a one-off session, the difference is noticeable. For a show you’re publishing consistently over months, it compounds — your content looks more professional than anything produced at a lower specification, on every platform your audience watches it.

Shure SM7B Audio

Three Shure SM7B microphones, each running through a Rodecaster mixer with independent channel control. The SM7B is the microphone of choice for professional broadcasters, major podcast networks, and commercial recording studios globally. It captures spoken word with a warmth and clarity that consumer-grade microphones can’t replicate — and your listeners will hear the difference, even if they can’t immediately explain why.

Independent channel control through the Rodecaster means each guest’s audio is recorded separately, with no bleed between voices. In the edit, you have full control over each channel — levels, EQ, noise reduction — without any of it affecting the other guests. It’s the setup that professional audio engineers use, available to anyone who books the studio.

The Sets

Equipment determines the quality of what you record. The set determines how it looks — and on a visual medium, that’s the first thing your audience notices.

Native Space has two fully equipped studio sets, and both are completely customisable. Backdrops, furniture, and artwork can all be changed, moved, and arranged to suit your brand, your aesthetic, and the specific feel of your show.

That matters for two reasons.

Your show looks like your show. Most studios have one fixed look. Everyone who records there shares it. If you’ve watched enough podcasts, you start recognising the same background appearing behind different hosts — which is fine if you’re not thinking about brand, and a problem if you are. At Native Space, the set can be dressed to reflect your brand identity specifically. The colours, the textures, the objects in frame — all of it can be tailored to you.

You can evolve. A show that’s been running for two years shouldn’t necessarily look identical to its first episode. Customisable sets mean you can refresh your visual identity without changing studios — a seasonal look, a rebrand, a different aesthetic for a special series. The studio adapts to where your content is going, not the other way around.

For businesses using the studio for corporate content, training videos, or brand materials rather than a regular podcast, the same flexibility applies: the set can be configured to match your brand guidelines rather than making your brand fit around a fixed studio aesthetic.

What One Session Produces

A recording session at Native Space generates more than a single piece of content. With three simultaneous camera angles and professional audio on every guest, a 45-minute session typically produces:

One booking. Multiple outputs across every platform your audience uses.

The Ecosystem

This is the part no standalone podcast studio can offer.

Native Space is a business community hub at Bourges View, Peterborough PE1. The podcast studio sits within a building that also contains a photography and video content room, a wellness studio, a hair salon, a creative art studio, meeting rooms, private offices, and a community of member businesses.

For a wellness professional: record a podcast in the morning, teach a class in the wellness studio in the afternoon, hold a client meeting in the meeting room. One address, one day, multiple outputs.

For a business owner: record an episode, shoot product photography in the content room, meet a client — without getting back in the car.

For a Native Space member: studio credits are built into the Member+ office membership, alongside meeting room access, business audits, and more. Everything in one place.

No standalone podcast studio offers this. It’s not a feature. It’s a fundamentally different proposition.
